BDS/EM — Electronics manufacturing
Mechanical content onlyThe fixturesyour line runs on
OTA and functional test fixtures, assembly jigs, and the machined mechanical content around them — cut in aluminium and in engineering polymers like Ultem, inspected on the same CMM as our automotive work, and shipped assembled rather than as a kit of parts.
BDS/EM — Scope
What we ship, and what we do not
EMS usually means SMT lines and reflow. We do the mechanical half, and we would rather tell you that here than after you have sent the RFQ.
In scope
- OTA and functional test fixtures, assembly and inspection jigs
- Machined nest plates, carrier plates and clamp hardware
- Precision machined mechanical content in metals and engineering polymers
- Machined enclosures, covers, heat sinks and brackets to your drawing
- Surface finishing — anodising, plating and passivation through qualified partners
- Mechanical assembly and box-build into a finished sub-assembly
- First-article inspection, PPAP / APQP documentation, full traceability
Not in scope — we will say so before you send the RFQ
- PCB fabrication, SMT or through-hole population, reflow, conformal coating
- Electrical test — ICT, FCT or burn-in
- Cable and wire-harness assembly
- Firmware, programming or functional calibration
If your programme needs those, we are the mechanical vendor inside it, not the prime.
BDS/EM — Capability
Six things we bring to a fixture
01
Machining in engineering polymers
Ultem, Delrin, polycarbonate, ABS, FR4 and ESD-grade epoxy, with tooling, feeds and coolant chosen for the polymer rather than forced onto a metal recipe. Ultem in particular is notch-sensitive and unforgiving of the wrong setup.
02
Machining in metals
Aluminium, alloy and stainless steel, brass and copper. Turning Ø8–Ø400 mm up to 750 mm long; VMC envelope 1200 × 600 × 600 mm. Ten machines, all with 12,000 rpm spindles, are dedicated to EMS work, and fixture finishing is done in-house.
03
RF-transparent by design
Where the measurement demands it, the structure around the device under test is built in polymer rather than metal, so the fixture does not corrupt the result it exists to capture.
04
Assembly & box-build
Guide posts, clamps, inserts, fasteners and hardware fitted, torqued and recorded — so what leaves our works is one part number, not a kit for somebody else to finish.
05
Inspection built in
Mitutoyo CRYSTA-Apex V CMM, CNC vision measuring, profile projector and roughness testing. Fixtures are measured, not eyeballed.
06
Documented delivery
Dimensional report, material certificates and an assembly record ship with every fixture, so your incoming inspection has nothing to chase.

BDS/EM — Worked example
A fixture we build today
- Part
- OTA test fixture
- Materials
- Aluminium + Ultem (PEI)
- Content
- Machined nest plate, polymer carrier plate, guide posts, clamp blocks, threaded inserts
- Process
- CNC milling in both materials, then mechanical assembly
- Delivered
- As one assembled fixture, inspected and documented
Customer and end-brand names are withheld under NDA — as yours would be.
BDS/MT — Engineering polymers
The materials most metal shops turn away
One shop, one inspection report, one delivery — instead of a metal vendor, a plastics vendor and an assembler.

- Ultem (PEI)
- Delrin (POM)
- Polycarbonate
- ABS
- FR4 / G-10
- Bakelite
- ESD-grade epoxy
We machine static-dissipative and ESD-grade polymers to your specified material, and pack to your specified standard.

Drawing to assembled fixture
01
Drawing & DFM review
Manufacturability comments come back in writing, with a material recommendation, before we quote.
02
First article
Cut on Proto Division machines with a full dimensional report — not squeezed between production batches.
03
Series
Moved onto the ten machines dedicated to EMS work. Around 30% of the shop is deliberately kept free for new programmes.
04
Assembled & despatched
Hardware fitted, packed to your specified standard, documented and shipped.
